The midfielder Renato Neto failed medicals at Premier League newcomers.
Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. have pulled out of a club record deal for Gent midfielder Renato Neto. The 25-year-old travelled to England for a medical on Friday but it is understood a knee injury has caused the English side to give up on the player. The Seagulls were about to make Neto their club record signing but the move fell through as Brighton refuse to comment on the reason that has caused the deal to collapse.
The midfielder has had chronic knee problems and The Seagulls are not willing to play the risk game even though they had already agreed terms with the Belgian club.
Brighton have been tracking the player for the past few season, since he joined Gent from Sporting Lisbon and a potential signing could have seen the club pay a record fee of £5.2m.
