Even though manager Jose Mourinho thinks United cannot sign Morata, Juan Mata still thinks there is a chance.
Manchester United midfielder Mata hopes Alvaro Morata can still join the Red Devils, despite the fact Romelu Lukaku just signed from Everton. Manchester United were interested in the Real Madrid’s striker but the two clubs could not agree on the player’s price and Mourinho’s side ended up signing Lukaku instead.
However, it seems like Mata has not given up on the idea of having his Spain teammate play by his side:
“It looks tough to see Alvaro Morata in a Red Devils shirt with the arrival of Romelu,” he told Cadena Cope. “We’ve signed an important player in attack and it’s difficult, although you never know.
“Things can happen in the last few days, but I wish Alvaro the best.”
Earlier this month it was speculated that a potential agreement can be reached if De Gea was part of the deal. Yet, Mata is confident that is not going to happen: “I think De Gea will stay.”
