The first English trophy awaits its winner

Arsenal and Chelsea will open the football season in England as they face off for the Community Shield trophy.

The game will take place at Wembley later today at 15:00 (CEST).

Reigning Premier League champions Chelsea will go into the game without Diego Costa, who is deemed surplus to requirements. The Blues will also not be able to count on Eden Hazard and Tiemue Bakayoko as they are both not fit to play.

Meanwhile, the FA Cup winners Arsenal are yet to decide whether they will be able to feature Alexis Sanches in their ranks, who joined his teammates just a few days ago following an extended summer break.

Alvaro Morata will most likely make his official debut for Chelsea as for Arsenal new arrivals Lacazette and Kolašinac will likely do the same.

The game will be a repetition of last season’s FA Cup final where Arsenal won 2-1 against Chelsea. The game will certainly be interesting to watch as never in history has the FA Cup winner won the Community shield afterwards if both finals were played by the same teams.

So far Chelsea and Arsenal have met each other twice in the Community Shield final, with each team grabbing a win respectively.
