The Catalans are closing in on the transfer of Jean Michael Seri, from Nice.

The 26-year-old is seen as the perfect alternative to Philippe Coutinho, being a much cheaper option than the Liverpool player.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona reached an agreement with Nice for the midfielder that scored ten goals in 72 matches for the French club.  Seri is capable of contributing both in defence and in attack and is seen by Barcelona as the perfect player to organize the game from the midfield.

Nice’s manager, Lucien Favre, was very surprised by the news that his player might leave the club: “An imminent transfer of Seri to Barcelona? He is leaving? Are you serious? I cannot imagine life without him in the team. But, as long as the transfer window is open, anything is possible. He played all his games at a very good level, he is a true professional. I cannot say any more about the transfer, because I don’t know”, the manager said, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Catalans are ready to offer €35m for Seri, who scored seven goals and registered nine assists last season for Nice, helping his team finish third in Ligue 1.

Seri attracted interest from multiple major clubs this summer. AS Roma, PSG, Arsenal and Liverpool were all monitoring the midfielder, but for now it looks like the player is set to join Barcelona on Camp Nou.
