Liverpool’s refusal to negotiate Coutinho’s transfer has prompted the Catalans to come up with a back-up plan.
According to Marca, Barcelona is planing to submit a bid for Paulo Dybala from Juventus, in case their efforts to bring Coutinho to Camp Nou will fail. Although the Brazilian has done everything in his powers to force a move away from Anfield, Liverpool’s management seem unwilling to negotiate any deal.
Paulo Dybala has been on Barcelona’s shortlist for a long while and the Catalans consider him a very valuable player with huge potential to develop even further. The only problem is that Barcelona considers Dybala too similar to Messi and they don’t know if the two Argentinians would be able to play together. For this reason, the focus this summer was on Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho and Angel Di Maria.
But now, as it looks like a deal for Coutinho is off the table, Barcelona have reignited their interest in Dybala. And according to Marca, the costs of bringing the Argentinian to Camp Nou would be similar to the offer that the Catalans were preparing for Coutinho. It remains to be seen whether an agreement can be reached before the transfer deadline.
