After having refused Chelsea and expressing his wish to play for Liverpool, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s dream might come true.
Liverpool were monitoring the situation of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and acted immediately when they found out that the midfielder refused Chelsea. The Blues have reached an agreement with Arsenal for a fee thought to be in the region of £40m, but the deal fell through after the player found out that he was to be used as a wing-back at Stamford Bridge.
The 24-year-old made it clear that he would like to play as a central midfielder and he was hoping that Liverpool will be able to offer him that chance. Jurgen Klopp’s side have immediately started negotiations with Arsenal and now, according to Sky Sports, an agreement has been reached.
Although there were discussions whether Liverpool will be able to match Chelsea’s earlier bid, it seem that Arsenal have settled for a lower fee, thought to be in the region of £35m, according to the same source.
All that remains now is for the player to agree personal terms with Liverpool, which should not be too difficult, given both parties willingness to make the deal happen.
