Andre Gomes has been deemed surplus to requirements at Camp Nou and is expected to leave the Catalans today.
Juventus have been interested in getting the midfielder on loan earlier this week, but Barcelona have rejected the offer from Turin. However, it now appears that the Portuguese is on his way to Premier League, with both Tottenham and West Ham interested in his services.
Tottenham are known for their deadline day dealings and Harry Kane even said earlier today that he trusts “Daniel Levy will deliver for Spurs”, according to Sky Sports. On the other hand, West Ham were hoping to seal a deal for William Carvalho from Sporting. But since that is no longer an option, they have switched their focus to Barcelona’s midfielder.
Andre Gomes joined Barcelona last summer from Valencia, but he didn’t had the expected impact on Camp Nou. The Catalans were hoping that Gomes will be able to replace Xavi at one point in their midfield line, as he was widely regarded as one of the most promising central midfielders in Europe.
According to The Telegraph, discussions are now held over a potential season-long loan for Gomes. Even though Barcelona were initially reluctant to allow him to leave on loan, a good offer with a hefty upfront fee and a generous buy-clause could persuade the Catalans to let the player go.
