Although the transfer deadline has already passed in most of the big leagues in Europe, clubs in Spain still have time until midnight to finish business.
Barcelona were monitoring the deadline day in England, hoping that Liverpool will bring in a big name capable of replacing Coutinho, so that the Catalans will see an increase in their chances to sign the Brazilian.
Unfortunately for Barcelona, Liverpool failed with their bid for Thomas Lemar and the chances of Coutinho moving to Camp Nou have remained close to zero. The English club have numerous times expressed their unwillingness to negotiate.
However, according to Sky Sports, Barcelona have an offer ready and they are just waiting for the perfect time to submit it, looking for a sign from either the player or Liverpool. Coutinho is currently with the Brazil national team and last night he scored a goal in their 2-0 victory over Ecuador, that helped them secure the first place in their World Cup qualification group.
In addition to Coutinho, Barcelona are also looking to bring in Angel Di Maria from PSG. The Argentinian is another player that has been chased for a long while, ever since Neymar’s departure to Paris.
Although the Spanish transfer deadline is at midnight, Barcelona might want to hurry up and secure their targets before that, as UEFA’s deadline for submitting squads for the Champions League group stage is 11pm.
