Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are still negotiating for the transfer of Diego Costa.
As the Spanish deadline for transfers is Friday midnight, Diego Simeone’s side are hopeful of being able to bring back their former striker, according to Sky Sports.
Chelsea were interested in signing Fernando Llorente from Swansea, as a back-up for their current striker. This deal would have made negotiations between Chelsea and Atletico easier. But Llorente instead chose to move to Tottenham.
However, Atletico are confident that an agreement will finally be reached. Diego Costa is currently in Brazil, as he is refusing to get back to London. The Spanish striker informed Chelsea that he is only interested in going back to Atletico Madrid.
The break down between Chelsea and Diego Costa occurred after the Blues’ manager, Antonio Conte, sent a text message to the striker at the end of last season, informing him that he is not needed anymore.
