Barcelona are ready to do everything within their powers to persuade Lionel Messi to continue with the Catalans.
According to Real Madrid’s president, Florentino Perez, Barcelona are ready to submit a bid for Antoine Griezmann in January, in a bid to keep their star player, Lionel Messi, at the club.
Messi’s contract is set to expire next summer and his contractual situation is unclear at the moment. Although Barcelona’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, claimed that a renewal was signed, no official announcement has been made and the Argentinean’s future at Camp Nou is in doubt.
After having lost Neymar to PSG, Barcelona only managed to bring in Ousmane Dembele as a replacement. The Catalans were looking to add names like Philippe Coutinho and Marco Verratti to their squad, but those moves never materialised.
Messi is thought to be unhappy with the current squad of Barcelona and the Catalans’ management will look to address his concerns in the winter transfer window. According to Diario Gol, Florentino Perez found out about Barcelona’s plans to try to buy Griezmann and has now made his rivals’ efforts public, in a try to hinder an eventual deal.
