The Argentine was highly impressed with the performance of his team following a 3-1 win against Borussia Dortmund.
Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino praised his players for their maturity against a very tough opponent in Europe as Spurs kicked off their Champions League campaign with a 3-1 win against Borussia.
Even though the Bundesliga side dominated possession for larger portions of the game, the club from north London made no mistake in front of the goal, which proved enough for them to clinch the three points at home.
While Son Heung-min scored the opener for Tottenham, Harry Kane, who was one again unstoppable on the pitch, proved he is not simply a ‘one-season wonder’ and netted twice for Spurs.
“It was so important to win, we are so happy,” Pochettino told BT Sport.
“It was so important to start well in a tough game. Dortmund played really well, they dominated the first half. We increased our level in the second half and we were very clinical in front of goal.
“It is more than three points. At half-time we fixed some problems and modified the position of some players. The tempo of the game decreased which was better for us. Dortmund are a very aggressive team, we struggled a little to pass the ball quickly.
“Sometimes you can’t dominate, you have to play a different way and the team is more mature now. We can learn a lot from this game.”
