Real Madrid are in the process of securing the future of their main players and next in line is Marco Asensio.
The 21-year-old will reportedly sign a new deal with the club next week. Real Madrid want to reward the player for his good performances and in the same time, they want to make sure that no other club will even get near Asensio. For this reason, they intend to set him a release clause of €500m, according to As.
After having secured the contract extension of Karim Benzema, for whom they set a release clause of €1 billion, Florentino Perez is also ready to secure the future of the most promising player in the team. Asensio’s current contract is set to expire in 2020, but the club convinced the player to sign a new deal, valid until 2023.
Asensio is set to receive a pay rise once he will sign the new contract. Lately, important clubs have shown interest in the player. Among them, PSG and Manchester City, who are known for their financial power. Real want to make sure that they will not sniff around and have therefore decided to set Asensio’s release clause at €500m.
However, the player declared that regardless of the new release clause that will be included in his contract, he has no intention to leave Real Madrid and sees his future on Santiago Bernabeu.
