Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy were teammates in Sir Alex Ferguson’s team.
The former Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell has close ties with the most important people in the English football and is a very close friend of Sir Alex Ferguson. Last week, The Times published another episode of his diary which described a rather interesting event that took place between Ronaldo and van Nistelrooy.
“The last straw was when he told Cristiano Ronaldo he had found a new dad in Carlos [Queiroz, Ferguson’s assistant] just after Ronaldo’s dad, who was an alcoholic, had died. Carlos asked him to show respect and he said he didn’t respect anyone there”, Campbell wrote about the incident that happened in the 2005/2006 season.
These words did not go to well with Cristiano Ronaldo, who did not accept van Nistelrooy’s apologies. At the end of that season, the Dutch striker was sold to Real Madrid.
The pair have been teammates for a short period at Real Madrid as well. Ronaldo arrived on Santiago Bernabeu in 2009 and it didn’t took long for van Nistelrooy to leave the team, in the winter transfer window of that season, when he was transferred to Hamburg.
