Pep Guardiola has issued a hands-off warning to Arsenal in their pursuit of Raheem Sterling.
The Gunners tried to sign Raheem Sterling this summer, as City were looking to buy Alexis Sanchez. Arsene Wenger would have liked to include Sterling in a swap deal, but Guardiola refused such a deal.
However, Wenger is said to be a keen admirer of Sterling and was planning to bid for the 22-year-old in January and again next summer if unsuccessful. The French manager knows that he is going to lose Alexis Sanchez eventually and is looking for quality replacements.
Speaking after Manchester City’s convincing 5-0 win over Crystal Palace in the weekend, Guardiola dismissed Arsenal’s chances of signing Sterling, who scored two goals on Saturday to take his total tally for the season at five goals in five matches.
“Raz is staying here. The club trust him and that is why we have invested a lot of money in him”, the Citizens’ boss said, according to The Sun.
