The Catalans are ready to challenge Real Madrid for the signature of Dele Alli.
Florentino Perez has made it a priority to sign Tottenham’s duo Dele Alli and Harry Kane. However, according to the Catalan media Sport, Barcelona are ready to step in in the race for the English midfielder.
Sport posted a picture of the young midfielder on their first page of their Monday edition, together with the message: “Objective Dele Alli”.
The 21-year-old is seen as the perfect alternative for Philippe Coutinho, who Barcelona failed to sign this summer. As it looks right now, Liverpool are not interested to allow their Brazilian player to move for any price, so the Catalans will have to look elsewhere.
Tottenham announced in September that they are ready to extend the contract of Dele Alli, in order to discourage any potential suitors from placing a bid. The midfielder is currently earning €55k/week and the new contract will see his wages rise up to €90k/week.
However, negotiations have not shown any results and the situation of Dele Alli is unclear at the moment. Barcelona would like to take advantage of this and are preparing a €150m bid, which they think would be enough to persuade Tottenham to allow the player to move.
