“Training with Messi, Neymar was priceless” said the full-back.
Benfica defender Douglas has recalled his spell with the Catalanas, admitting that training shoulder to shoulder with Lionel Messi and Neymar was one of a kind experience. The Brazilian is currently in Portugal on a season-long loan spell from Barcelona, but is unlikely to return to Spain once again.
“Training with Messi and Neymar was priceless,” Douglas told Portuguese paper Record.
“Criticism of my performances? The minute you begin to think about that and give significance to it, your head stops working in the same way.
“From everything in football, both good and bad, you learn from it as this is the game.”
Douglas joined the Catalans back in 2014, but only made eight appearances for the club, spending his last season on loan at Sporting Gijon. He then joined Benfica in August, choosing the Portuguese club over the Turkish Bursaspor, who were also interested in his services at the time.
