Sadio Mane has been ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury.
The Senegalese was in action for his national team in their 2-0 World Cup Qualifiers win over Cape Verde. Mane played 87 minutes in that match and sustained a hamstring injury.
Mane returned to Liverpool and went through detailed medical investigations that have now revealed the extent of the damage. The initial results showed that the forward will be out of action for at least one month and could face up to six weeks on the sidelines, according to Sky Sports.
Therefore, Mane, wo was recently named on the shortlist for the Ballon d’Or award, will miss Liverpool’s crucial encounter with Manchester United on Saturday at Anfield. The Senegalese forward comes after a three-match ban in Premier League, imposed on him by the FA for having been sent off during the 5-0 defeat to Manchester City, when his flying boot hit City’s goalkeeper, Ederson.
Jurgen Klopp was looking forward to be able to count on Mane again for his side’s matches, but will now have to continue planning without the Senegalese.
