Jose Mourinho was spotted in the stands of the Ernst Happel Stadion for the World Cup Qualifying match between Austria and Serbia.
The English press has speculated about the Portuguese manager’s presence in Austria and initially wrote that ‘The Special One‘ was there to watch one of Sergei Milinkovic-Savic, Andrija Zivkovic, David Alaba or Dusan Tadic.
But now it has been revealed by The Mirror that the real target of Mourinho was Mijat Gacinovic, the Serbian midfielder of Eintracht Frankfurt. Mourinho was probably alerted about the talents of Gacinovic by Nemanja Matic and decided to go watch for himself if the 22-year-old is suitable for Manchester United.
Mijat Gacinovic is considered one of the best talents in Bundesliga. He has attracted a lot of attention recently, after the two goals he scored for Serbia in the World Cup Qualifiers against Moldova and Georgia.
Gacinovic signed for Eintracht Frankfurt two years ago, when the Germans paid €1,25m to FK Vojvodina Novi Sad. The 22-year-old recently signed a new contract with Eintracht, keeping him in Frankfurt until 2021. He can operate both in the central midfield line and on the wing and his current market value is €3,5m according to Transfermarkt.
