Zinedine Zidane has given his approval for Real Madrid’s next transfer.
According to Marca, Real Madrid have already decided that they will try to bring in Athletic Bilbao’s goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, next summer, when his contract expires.
Los Blancos are advising the young goalkeeper not to sign a new deal with Athletic, so that he could move for free to Santiago Bernabeu. Bilbao already offered a new contract to Kepa, but the negotiations have stalled for the moment. Bilbao’s new proposal for Kepa was a yearly salary of €3m and a release clause of €75m.
Kepa Arrizabalaga is a product of Bilbao’s youth academy and he rose to prominence last season, when he was handed his debut in La Liga for Athletic. Kepa was previously loaned out to Ponferradina and Valladolid.
The market value of the young goalkeeper raised considerably after his performances during the European U21 Championship that took place in Poland and during which Spain reached the final.
Real Madrid would like to ensure their future in goal, considering that Keylor Navas’ contract is set to expire in 2020.
