Mesut Ozil is confident that his move to Manchester United will happen soon and has informed his friends about it.
The German international’s contract at Emirates is set to expire next summer and the Gunners would like to cash in on the player while they still can. For this reason, they have decided to allow the player to leave in January, than to lose him for free next summer.
Ozil has informed his Arsenal teammates and friends that he will leave to Manchester United, according to Mirror Sport: “I’m leaving Arsenal. I will sign with Manchester United“, Ozil said according to the source. The 29-year-old is therefore ready to move to Old Trafford in January, and the transfer will ensure that Arsenal will receive a transfer fee for the player. According to Transfermarkt, Ozil’s current market value is €50m.
This would be the biggest betrayal since Robin van Persie. The Dutch striker made the move from Arsenal to Manchester United in 2012, at a time when he was the idol of the fans on Emirates.
Even Arsene Wenger acknowledged that Ozil might leave in the winter. The German is wanted by Jose Mourinho, with the Portuguese manager nominating Ozil as one of the best central midfielders in the world. The two had a good collaboration at Real Madrid and are in good relations, although the German decided to join Arsenal in 2013, when Mourinho also wanted him at Chelsea.
Ozil’s representatives have asked for weekly wages of £350k/week to sign with United. Arsenal, on the other hand, were only able to offer him £275k/week and the German refused the offer.
Arsenal paid €47m to Real Madrid in 2013 for Mesut Ozil.
