Good news for the Catalans as the youngster’s recovery is going ahead of schedule.
Ousmane Dembélé, who joined Barcelona during the summer in a €105m transfer, might be in line for the El Clásico in December, according to the surgeon that operated on the Frenchman.
The record club signing of the La Liga giants suffered a hamstring injury in his third game for the club and the initial assessments suggested he might miss the rest of the calendar 2017.
However, Dembélé appears to be recovering ahead of schedule and Sakari Orava gave a glimpse of hope that the youngster might actually be fit by December 23.
“[The recovery] is going quicker than expected,” Orava told Cadena SER. “He has already said he wants to come back before the planned date.
“But we don’t know if that will be possible. Maybe, [he could face Madrid,] maybe, but I can’t assure you of anything.
“Right now, he is training in the sandpits that Barca have and I think that, by the middle of November, he’ll be able to touch a ball again.
“If he did too much now there would be a risk of a relapse but, if he takes things calmly, everything will be okay.”
Barcelona are currently leading the La Liga table four points clear from second-seated Valencia as they remain unbeaten after 11 games.
