Unai Emery’s contract with PSG is set to expire next summer and the Parisians are already looking for replacements.
According to Le Parisien, Antonio Conte is at the top of the wishlist for PSG’s executives. Chelsea’s manager is tied to the Stamford Bridge club until 2019 and he has recently received a wage increase, from €7,3m to €10,8m per year, without extending the length of his contract.
Having won the Premier League in his first season in charge of ‘the Blues’, Antonio Conte appears to have lost his enthusiasm for the job in England. Chelsea are currently fourth in England, nine points behind leaders Manchester City after 11 rounds.
The French press continues to speculate about the replacement of Unai Emery. Antonio Conte is the third name presented as a possible future manager of PSG. The previous two managers linked with the Parc des Princes job were Manchester United’s Jose Mourinho and Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone.
Le Parisien writes that Unai Emery’s contract will be extended only if he reaches at least the Champions League semifinals, case in which he will be offered another year. In case PSG wins the Champions League trophy, he would be offered a two-year extension.
PSG are currently at the top of Ligue 1, with 32 points after 12 rounds and they are also leading their Champions League group, having won all four of their matches and recording an amazing goal difference: 17-0.
