Arsene Wenger is preparing for life without Alexis Sanchez and has identified Wilfried Zaha as the ideal replacement.
Crystal Palace’s attacker scored two goals in five Premier League matches this season. He has missed most of the beginning of the season with a knee injury. The Eagles are bracing themselves for interest in their player, but are determined to keep their star man at Selhurst Park, especially given the fact that he just signed a new five-year deal in the summer.
However, Arsenal will test Crystal Palace’s resolution with a £35m bid, according to The Sun, as Arsene Wenger sees the Ivory Coast international as the perfect solution to replace the departing Alexis Sanchez.
Having returned from injury, Zaha earned his team their only points of the season, scoring both the winner against Chelsea and the last-minute equaliser against West Ham United. Zaha has been continuously monitored by a number of clubs in England since his departure from Manchester United three years ago. Tottenham
Tottenham are one of the clubs keeping close tabs on the player. But it now appears that their north London rivals will move faster, as they have an acute need of replacing Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean has already expressed his desire to leave and given that his contract is set to expire next summer, it’s just a matter of whether he will leave in January or next summer.
Wenger is also monitoring Yacine Brahimi from Porto, but Zaha’s proven track record in Premier League seems to tilt the balance in his favour for a transfer to Emirates. Crystal Palace are currently at the bottom of the Premier League table and it’s hard to believe that a player like Zaha would continue to play for the Eagles if they will be relegated to the Championship.
