Barcelona’s plan

Barcelona have a shopping list for the next two transfer windows which includes two big names

FC Barcelona have identified their two primary targets. One of them is Philippe Coutinho, who the Catalan club will try to buy in January from Liverpool. The other big name is Atletico Madrid’s striker Antoine Griezmann, who Barcelona want to sign next summer, despite the difficult surroundings of the players.

The ideal plan of the Catalan side of securing the Brazilian midfielder in January before signing Griezmann in July won’t be easy to follow.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu knows the huge competition Barca will face when they try to sign Philippe Coutinho, as Liverpool didn’t want to let him go. Barca stated earlier that the Reds were asking for 200 million for the attacking midfielder, but this was denied by the English club.

However, the relationship between Jurgen Klopp and Coutinho has become worse, since the Brazilian handed in a transfer request, making the manager question the player’s commitment to the club.

Besides, the drama that surrounds Coutinho at Liverpool, other big players will enter the race for him as well, with Paris Saint-Germain being the most dangerous among them.

When it comes to Griezmann, that deal might come through a little bit easier, since it the striker will most likely leave Atletico next summer. And Ernesto Valverde’s side have directly expressed their interest in the Frenchman.

In addition, the release clause of the striker will be 100 million from July 1, which poses no barriers for the Catalan club. However, Barcelona will have to compete for his signing as well, since Manchester United and PSG are also interested in Griezmann. Furthermore, the French club is reportedly considering the sale of Edinson Cavani, which would make the whole Griezmann deal more possible.

If the leaders of La Liga manage to sign both of their targets, it will be even harder to stop Valverde’s men, as they would have a lethal squad. Real Madrid, are you listening?
