Nabil Fekir is close to joining Arsenal, as the Gunners are looking to reshape their squad.
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez will most probably leave Emirates in January or next summer, when their contracts are set to expire. And Arsene Wenger is already planning for life without his two star players.
According to Daily Star, Arsenal are closing in on a £60m deal for Lyon’s playmaker, Nabil Fekir. The 24-year-old is one of the stars of Lyon, being able to play both as a central striker and a ‘number 10’. Lyon’s owner, Jean-Michel Aulas, even called Fekir ‘my Lionel Messi‘, speaking of his appreciation for the French player.
Arsenal are ready to accept reduced bids for Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in January, trying to avoid the scenario of losing them for free next summer. For this reason, the Gunners have set each of their star players a £30m price tag, hoping to attract potential suitors, especially the ones in Premier League, that cannot approach the player in January. The Manchester clubs are reportedly interested in the two players, with Mourinho looking to be reunited with Ozil and Guardiola with Sanchez.
The money raised from the sale of the two players would then be redirected to Lyon, for the transfer of Nabil Fekir. If he were to make the move to the Emirates, Fekir will be reunited with his former Lyon teammate, Alexandre Lacazette, who moved to London this summer for £52m.
Fekir’s contract with Lyon runs until 2020. The midfielder scored 11 goals in 11 Ligue 1 appearances this season, while also registering three assists.
