Brendan Rodgers said that his Celtic are about to face the team which can be called “the best of the best”, at least right now. The French side are very difficult to beat and the manager said that his side can just hope to be lucky.
Ahead of Wednesday’s game against PSG, Celtic know they can only qualify for the Europa League after winning only one of their opening four Group B games. In the reverse fixture at Celtic Park in September, PSG strolled to an emphatic 5-0 win and Rodgers believes they will pose a threat to any team in the competition, according to Sky Sports.
The former Liverpool coach spoke about his side’s upcoming opponent as he said: “The players are relaxed but very focused, we understand that we’re playing against a team that are arguably the best of the best. For me, this squad of players is going to be in with a hell of a chance of winning this competition. It’s a huge challenge for every team they come across, not just ourselves. We’ve seen Bayern Munich come here and lose.”
Brendan Rodgers added that PSG has got outstanding players on every single position: “They’ve big game experience and quality in every single position, that includes the bench as well. You have some outstanding players right across their team here and when you have the goal threat that they have in this team, with Neymar, Cavani, Di Maria and Mbappe, you can go to any stadium in the world and know you can score goals and win games.”
The Celtic coach added that even Bayern Munich experienced the strength of PSG before and his side should be aware of that: “They showed that against Bayern Munich, a team they would deem to be a rival in this competition.”
