Chelsea attacker Willian has been reportedly linked with Barcelona, as a possible move for the Catalan side provided that they don’t sign Philippe Coutinho
The 25-year-old Brazilian star remains the primary target for Barcelona during the upcoming winter transfer window, however many suggest that Ernesto Valverde has come up with another idea as Plan B. And Barcelona’s Plan B is Chelsea star Willian. The La Liga leaders see the winger as an alternative if they were to fail in their attempts of getting the signature of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool.
The Catalan club have approached the Reds for the services of Coutinho, however those had been knocked back by Liverpool during the summer as Jurgen Klopp’s side demanded €200 million for the Brazil international. The 25-year-old, however, expressed his wishes to leave as he handed in a transfer request at Anfield, and Valverde’s side are expected to return for him in January.
Barca chief executive Oscar Grau has admitted the Blaugrana are willing and able to pay the required amount for a replacement of Neymar, as the Brazilian left to join Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
“We are ready to buy Coutinho in the winter market, or any player the technical staff request,” the CEO explained.
Despite Coutinho being their primary target, the Camp Nou side have been monitoring Willian, as the Chelsea star could prove to be a good replacement of Neymar as well. The 29-year-old, and Coutinho have the agent in Giuliano Bertolucci, and the Camp Nou outfit are hoping the well-known representative can assist in delivering at least one of their dream players.
Despite the fact that Willian has been in and out of Antonio Conte’s starting squad this season, the Brazilian has scored 4 goals in 20 games in all competitions. He’s contract is valid until June 2020, and Chelsea will probably only consider selling him when they found his replacement.
