David Luiz’s recent nightmare at Chelsea could come to an end sooner than he expected, as Real Madrid are monitoring his situation.
The Brazilian centre-back has fallen off with his manager at Chelsea, Antonio Conte and was left out of the starting eleven recently. According to The Telegraph, Luiz could be handed a way out of this situation to one of the biggest clubs in Europe, Real Madrid.
After the last match played in La Liga by Real Madrid, Zinedine Zidane hinted at new arrivals in the winter transfer window, without offering any details about names or positions. The press speculated that the French manager would be looking for reinforcements in attack, someone to challenge Karim Benzema for a starting position, but also a central defender to fight for a place in the starting eleven with Raphael Varane, as Sergio Ramos is considered untouchable at the heart of the defence.
Furthermore, the other centre-back in Real’s squad, Nacho, recently expressed his desire to leave Santiago Bernabeu, in order to gain some more playing time elsewhere, in a bid to catch the Spain squad for the upcoming World Cup in Russia next summer.
Therefore, the bringing of a central defender could become a priority for Real Madrid in January. David Luiz seems like an accessible option, given his current situation at Chelsea. The Brazilian defender is not counted on anymore by his manager, Antonio Conte, after Chelsea lost 3-0 to Roma in Champions League, with Luiz considered one of the main responsibles.
At the end of the match won by Chelsea against Manchester United (1-0), Conte said about David Luiz: “He has to work hard regardless if he’s on the bench or in the stands. Andreas Christensen is the present and the future of Chelsea”, stating his opinion about the Brazilian defender very clear.
