Liverpool player Emre Can talked about speculations surrounding him due to a possible transfer, and about Manchester City’s impressive run
The 23-year-old claimed that he is fully focused on Liverpool as the German is about to enter the final six months of his contract at Anfield. The Germany International has made his 100th Premier League appearance for the Reds on Wednesday night as Jurgen Klopp’s men went on to win 3-0 against Stoke away from home.
However, with the 23-year-old midfielder’s contract expiring in the summer of 2018, Can has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs including Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, and Bayern Munich. Whichever side is considering buying him, they could secure his signature on a free transfer.
“Of course, I talk to Liverpool. Let’s see what happens. My focus is on Liverpool only right now, and my agent takes care of the rest,” Can told Spox following their win against Stoke City.
Can also talked about Liverpool’s goals for the season, as the Reds currently sit on the fifth-spot, being two points behind rivals Arsenal. Klopp’s man will face Brighton on Saturday, where they are hoping to change the current standings.
“We could do better, but we are still in a good position. Our goal is to reach the top four and again qualify for the Champions League,” the German said.
Despite keeping his hopes up, the German admitted they don’t have a chance as long as Manchester City don’t make a mistake.
“That they left it late again [in Wednesday’s win over Southampton], totally fits City right now. City are just a step ahead. Let’s see how long the run will last. Maybe forever, maybe they will have a time when they falter. Should they keep it up like that, they will win the title at a very early stage,” Can added.
