After having secured the services of David Silva for an additional year, Manchester City are now looking to reward their most in-form player.
Raheem Sterling is the top scorer of the Citizens this season and, perhaps more important than that, their most influential player recently. He has build quite a reputation for himself recently of scoring late match-winning goals, with his latest performance bringing a 96th-minute match-winner against Southampton.
Manchester City now want to reward Sterling for his fine form and make sure that the player will not be tempted by other big clubs. For this reason, the Citizens are ready to offer their winger a new deal, according to Sky Sports.
Sterling, who scored 13 goals in 19 appearances this season, has a contract with Manchester City running until the summer of 2020. Although no indications have been provided on when the negotiations will start, it is expected that the English winger will sign a new deal by the end of the current season.
Raheem Sterling was bought by Manchester City from Liverpool in 2015, when the Citizens paid £49m for his services. Although the transfer fee was considered outrageous at the time, Sterling has started to prove his worth recently, enjoying Guardiola’s style. Since his arrival at Etihad, the winger scored 34 goals in 113 appearances, with his best season so far being the current one.
