Even though his side lost 3-2 to Los Blancos on Wednesday, Borussia’s manager was unimpressed by his opposition.
Borussia Dortmund head coach Peter Bosz is not convinced that Zinedine Zidane’s team is the team to beat if you want to challenge for the Champions League trophy this campaign.
Dortmund managed to get back from a 2-0 deficit on Wednesday through Aubameyang’s brace only to get denied a point by Lucas Vazquez’s later winner. The game itself meant nothing for either side as Tottenham Hotspur made no mistake in their last fixture and eased their way with 3-0 win over APOEL, while Real Madrid had already secured the second seat in their group.
However, Bosz insisted it was hard to tip Real Madrid as the team to beat this season since he was left unimpressed by their showing on the pitch.
“After today’s game, I don’t know if it is possible to say that Real Madrid are the favourite to win the Champions League,” Bosz said during his news conference as quoted by Goal.
“They were not very strong tonight.
“Although, it is true that they rested many players and they are one of the favourites.”
The German outfit will now join the Europa League after finishing third in their group and their boss admitted it felt disappointing leaving the Champions League early on.
“We wanted to continue in the Champions League,” Bosz added. “Now we will put everything we have into the Europa League.
“When the injured players return we’ll improve. We still have to improve our level of performance, today went very badly. We showed at times that we can play football very well.”
