Roy Hodgson admits that he is really looking forward to the winter transfer window and he wants to bring at least a few new players to his club as Crystal Palace’s squad isn’t deep enough.
Crystal Palace managed to gain five points from their last three matches and they are back in the fight for avoiding the relegation but the experienced coach knows that it’s still not enough. It can be considered as a positive sign but Crystal Palace need to bring a couple of new players to be more competitive and be able to fight successfully in this harsh battle.
Roy Hodgson spoke about the quality of the squad as he said, according to Sky Sports: “I am quite confident that the personnel here is good. We do have the wherewithal to certainly give ourselves a good chance of getting out of the situation we find ourselves in. But it would also be nice if we could strengthen the squad in one or two areas.”
He didn’t want to be more specific as he needs to discuss the situation with other members of the club: “It is obviously something I discuss with the scouting department in terms of building profiles and discussing the areas where someone coming in could maybe help us. Not necessarily to take someone’s place in the team, it could also be the fact that, as the season wears on, you can’t play with the same eleven weeks after week.”
In the end, the former Liverpool coach spoke about the fitness of goalkeeper Hennessey: “Wayne trained for the first time today. His back went into spasm during the time he was warming up. It has happened to him three times before and it was just very unfortunate that it happened on the day of a game.”
