Klopp unfazed by Liverpool’s potential opponents

The Reds from Anfield can face teams such as Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus in the next round, but the German tactician is not worried about it.

Liverpool head coach Jürgen Klopp praised the performance of his players following another emphatic win in the Champions League, trashing Spartak Moscow at home with a result of 7-0. Even though his side can line up against some pretty big European clubs in the first game of the 16 phase, Klopp says he is open to facing any opponent.

The Merseyside club stormed their way through the last group stage fixture with a tremendous performance at Anfield. Philippe Coutinho, who captained the team as Jordan Henderson watched the game from the sidelines, scored his first Champions League hat-trick, while Sadio Mane scored a brace and Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah netted one each.

Speaking to BT Sport after the game, Klopp stated:

“I don’t mind too much who we get. Usually I always get Real Madrid so we will see.

“We have no preferred opponents. It will be really nice [to be back in the knockout stages] after a long time. I love this kind of news.

“Nobody could imagine that it would go like this tonight. It was an all-or-nothing game for both teams.

“Spartak Moscow is a really good side, I know you won’t think so now but they are difficult to play against.

“We opened the game perfectly and after we took the lead we didn’t have to defend. It was a nice night at Anfield. I have nothing to moan about tonight, it’s all good.”
