Pochettino delighted with his players after APOEL victory

Spurs eased their way through their Champions League’s last group stage game against APOEL with a 3-0 win.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino lauded the performance of his men after they sealed their top spot in Group H with a win on Wednesday.

The Argentine boss made a number of changes in his squad compared to the team that drew 1-1 with Watford in the Premier League, but the new Spurs cruised to a comfortable win over their Greek opposition.

LLorente and N’Koudou scored their first goals for the club as Son-Heung-min once again flourished with an impressive showing on the pitch. Tottehnam Hotspur certainly surprised everyone, topping Group H with 16 points – more than any other Premier League side has in the Champions League this season.

“To finish in a good way was fantastic for us,” Pochettino told BT Sport. “Some players who had not played every week had the possibility to play and I am so happy for their performance.

“To finish with 16 points is a fantastic achievement in a difficult group.”

Pochettino also commented on Danny Rose’s furious reaction upon being substituted, stating that the left-back required medical attention and was deemed unable to continue the game by the medical staff.

“Players are never happy when they are going out,” he added. “He had a big cut and the doctors said he needed a stitch and it was impossible to play.

“Of course, the player was frustrated because it was Champions League, but there is nothing wrong.”
