Spartak destroyed by Liverpool, while Napoli and Leipzig are out

Every single knockout stage spot is now taken in the Champions League as Liverpool managed to secure the top spot, Napoli will play just the Europa League and Besiktas continue surprising.

Liverpool had to win at Anfield to make sure that they will make it to the knockout stage from the first place – and they did so in quite a way! Philippe Coutinho scored a hattrick and his side won this fixture 7-0 ahead of the upcoming derby against Everton. Sevilla also made their way through as they were held by Maribor to a 1-1 draw away from home.

The biggest surprise of the evening surely happened in Donetsk – Shakhtar managed to beat Manchester City 2-1 and it was the first defeat in this season for Pep Guardiola’s team. Bernard and Ismaily scored for the home side and Aguero’s consolation goal just wasn’t enough. Napoli suffered another defeat as Feyenoord came from behind at home with Jorgensen and Berghuis scoring for the Dutch team.

Real Madrid were already qualified but they still managed to win a prestigious match against Dortmund 3-2. The guests were 2-0 behind but then Aubameyang scored a brace and they were back in the game – however, Lucas netted the late winner and secured all three point for the Spanish side. Tottenham picked up another win as they had no problems with beating APOEL at home and after a 3-0 win, they remained unbeaten in this year’s Champions League.

Monaco disappointed again as they were beaten by Porto 5-2 in Portugal – and the home side secured their spot in the knockout stage by that win. Meanwhile, Leipzig were very surprisingly defeated by Besiktas at home and after their 1-2 loss, the German side are out. Negredo and Talisca scored for the Turkish side and Naby Keita’s strike wasn’t enough to help RB Leipzig to find the way through.
