Claude Puel who used to coach Southampton is about to return to face his old club as a manager of another English club, Leicester City – and Mauricio Pellegrino insisted that he has got respect for the Frenchman.
The Southampton coach, Mauricio Pellegrino, spoke about the feeling of facing the former team and the fact that it would be very difficult for him as he wants to have a good memory about his former players. He also mentioned that Claude Puel has been doing really well with Leicester and his side have to be aware of them as they showed that they are capable of beating anyone in the Premier League.
The Argentinian spoke about the ex-Southampton coach, Claude Puel, as he said, according to Sky Sports: “As a person, I like to have a good memory of my ex-players, to try to improve them as an individual. I respect the ex-manager, Claude is doing a good job because Leicester are getting a lot of points and they won important games in a row.”
He also praised his upcoming opponent as he said that Leicester are a very good team: “Leicester won the league not too many years ago and most of them are the same players. We have to be careful because it’s a good side but at home we have to continue our way and try to be a problem, to play good football and to attack and defend because it’s an important game for us.”
In the end, Pellegrino spoke about the fact that his side conceded another late goal against Arsenal: “Because against City for example tactically we were well organised, yesterday too, against Giroud he’s almost two metres jumping and just flicking the ball – I think we can stop the cross earlier and everything we can do a little bit more but it’s part of football. Our goals [conceded] are our qualities or mistakes for the opponent.”
