Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his demands towards the club’s executives, claiming he should be the highest-paid football player in the world
Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly started his own campaign that is about him becoming the highest-paid football player on the planet, as he is now only third behind Barcelona star Lionel Messi and the world-record Paris Saint-Germain signing Neymar. However, it doesn’t look like Los Blancos are concerned about their star’s demands.
In the aftermath of a man of the match performance in the Club World Cup final, which came so soon after his latest Ballon d’Or award, there is a sense inside the club that the winger has his eye on another leaderboard of sorts, MARCA reports.
Since the 32-year-old last renewed his contract in the Spanish capital, he slipped to the third place, because of PSG’s record-breaking signing of former Barcelona winger Neymar, and due to Lionel Messi’s contract extension with Los Blancos’ biggest rivals. The Argentine superstar is said to earn a staggering amount of 50 million euros per season.
That contract is nailed on for three-and-a-half more years at this moment in time, with the salary awarded to the player considered abundant within Los Blancos, MARCA continues.
However, many think that Ronaldo actually has a legitimate argument on why he should earn the most in the game, as the Portugal international has equaled Messi in terms of number of Ballon d’Or awards. The 32-year-old has recently won the most prestigious individual award for the fifth time in his career.
With that said, the Spanish media claims that Real Madrid are not thinking about opening up such discussions for now, which could cause them troubles, as Ronaldo has already expressed his concerns about the club, and many say he is ready to leave, provided that he doesn’t get what he wants.
