Sami Khedira, the Juventus holding midfielder, spoke about his teammate from the national team, Emre Can, and he insisted that he is an amazing player and he would be able to make a huge impact for Juventus.
Emre Can has been heavily linked with a possible move to the Italian champions as his contract is about to expire at the end of the season and he hasn’t signed a new one with Liverpool yet. The former Real Madrid player also denied that he wants to play in the MLS as he is still young and has enough abilities to continue at the top level.
The German midfielder spoke about his career and his possible move to the MLS as he said, according to ESPN: “Now I’m 30 and what I can say is that the age is just a number, so you have to take care of your body and you have to know what you want. I can tell you that I’m still hungry and I want to win everything. In this case, I want to play many, many years more in Europe — in one of the top leagues in Europe. Now I am in Italy and this is, for me, one of the best leagues in the world — one of the top four — so I don’t know why people speak about MLS.”
He also added that he still feels good: “I played 46 games I think last year — more than before in my whole career. This year the same. Physically I’m in the best shape of my life so why should I go to MLS and lose this big opportunity to play many years in Europe? So I never said [that I wanted] this and I can tell you and promise you that there is no possibility I am going in January or even in the summer to MLS. I want to stay in Europe.”
In the end, Sami Khedira also made a comment on Can’s situation: “I know him well. He’s young, strong and very talented. Given his age, he’s still got some learning and growing to do. So if there were the possibility of Juventus to sign him, I would take this opportunity in a flash. He’s out of contract in the summer, so if I were a director, yes, I would sign him immediately.”
