Carlos Carvalhal, the new Swansea City coach, spoke about possible departures and he insisted that he wants to keep Alfie Mawson at his club no matter what as he is a key player to him.
The Portuguese insisted that he doesn’t want to sell any of his key players, including Alfie Mawson – West Ham United have been interested in signing the Englan youngster but this transfer is not likely to happen now. To be added, Carvalhal wants to strengthen his squad by bringing at least a couple of new players and he will try to focus on that in the upcoming weeks.
The new Swansea manager spoke about Mawson and his possible departure as he said that the message of not letting key players go is clear, according to Sky Sports: “When I signed it was very clear that we would try and bring in players to improve the team, and will not sell the best players in January. So, the message is clear. [But] If someone comes and gives 100 or 50 millions, of course, it is completely different. We never can say that it will not happen but the fundamental idea is not to sell players but to try and improve the team.”
He also added that any of the signings haven’t been done yet: “The boat is on the sea but the fish didn’t bite so far! When the boat is on the sea, we never know.”
In the end, Carlos Carvalhal claimed that it depends on many other factors and his team will have to remain patient before possible arrivals: “It depends if there is a storm if the fish are sleeping or not if they want to come to the boat or not. I will talk about players that sign for us. If the players don’t sign, they are not our players.”
