The Toffees are interested in the English winger and their manager has confirmed that there are ongoing negotiations between the two sides.
Everton head coach Sam Allardyce has revealed that the Merseyside club has entered the race for Arsenal winger Theo Walcott. ‘Big Sam’ already brought in Cenk Tosun from Beşiktaş in a £27m deal, but openly expressed his desire to bolster the offensive options of the team even more. Walcott is seen as a great candidate for the position, but the Toffees will have to battle with Southampton, who are also reportedly interested in the Englishman.
“I think you are all aware of our interest in Theo,” Allardyce said as quoted by Sky Sports. “If that is possible to get over the line, I would be delighted but obviously there is negotiations that are happening at the moment.”
The Toffees boss then added that he’d be more than happy if everything gets sorted out as quick as possible and Walcott arrives at Goodison Park.
“If that can all be sorted out, which is one of the most difficult things to do then that would be a great addition in my opinion to come and join us from an attacking point of view. If that is at all possible it would be very nice, but it is not imminent at the moment but some negotiations are going on.
“It is permanent we are hoping to negotiate. I don’t think there is any chance of a loan.”
