Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima has insisted that forward’s decision to join Paris Saint-Germain will not help him get to the next level.
A lot of people expressed their disapproval of Neymar’s move to France where he joined the Parisians in his attempt to establish himself as the greatest player in the world. The Ligue 1 giants activated the Brazilian’s release clause of €222m in August, making him the most expensive player in football history. However, many believe that switching Barcelona for PSG is more of downgrade than an upgrade.
Yet, Neymar has been incredible for his new club, netting 20 goals and providing 12 assists in 22 games across all competitions. But his fellow compatriot and 2002 World Cup winner Ronaldo is not convinced that joining PSG was the right choice to make: “Sportingly, the decision is a step back. But there are challenges that everyone seeks.” the legendary Striker stated as quoted by FourFourTwo.
“I played in Barcelona at the time and went to Inter when the Italian championship was much more competitive.”
It certainly remains interesting to see how far Neymar will go and what he will achieve with the Parisians, who have a tough test early in the Champions League as they face reigning European champions Real Madrid in the last-16 round of the competition.
