Huddersfield Town v Chelsea - Premier League

Conte not planning to resign

Antonio Conte, the Chelsea coach, insisted that he won’t leave the club by making the decision himself and he claimed that his future is in the hands of the club’s owner, Roman Abramovich.

There have been a lot of rumours recently saying that Antonio Conte is about to be replaced by the club – it has been said that the Blues are interested in getting Luis Enrique or Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian coach was thought to be unhappy with the club’s inability to bring Romelu Lukaku, his main transfer target, but now, he insisted that he is not planning to resign.

The former Juventus coach spoke about this situation as he said, according to ESPN“No. Now I am fully committed for Chelsea, in this job, to work with my players and to try also to improve the club in the football aspect. I am fully committed in this. I am happy in what I am doing now and what I did in the past. But I am more happy in what I am doing now.”

He continued by adding that there is enough competition throughout the squad: “In our team there is competition. There is Batshuayi to try to create in my mind a bit of doubt, but at the same time don’t forget you are talking about two young players. For Morata this is the first full season for him and he is learning a lot from this experience. He is learning to deal with these type of situations, and if we speak about Batshuayi we are at the same level. He is a young player who had only one season he played with regularity for Marseille.”

In the end, Antonio Conte insisted that the patience is the key for the young players: “We are talking about young players. Me and the club know very well this situation and for this reason, we must have the patience to understand there is a process, and we are ready to face this process.”
