Los Blancos went through another disappointment after conceding a late goal against Villarreal.
Real Madrid defender Nacho insists the team is approaching every game the right way and that their poor form has nothing to do with their attitude.
Zidane’s men were beaten 1-0 by Villarreal at the Santiago Bernabéu on Saturday. Even though Madrid had a number of decent chances during the second half, Sergio Asenjo denied the home team with a number of good saves. Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale were also denied their penalty claims as the official simply waved away their demands without any second thoughts.
As the final minutes of the game approached, a quick counter-attack by Villarreal caught Madrid off guard and the Yellow Submarine scored the only goal in the game, which proved enough to snatch the three points away from the reigning La Liga champions.
Speaking to beIN Sports after the game, as quoted by Goal, Nacho said: “I do not know [what happened] really.
“I think we showed a good attitude, we have fought well, all the team. Villarreal are a team that likes possession, but we have played a good match in general.
“We had a corner and they caught us out of place, it’s not a lack of attitude.”
Defending their La Liga title appears as an impossible task for Los Blancos, who have now won just one out of their last five league games and if Barca wins on Sunday, Madrid will be 19 points adrift of the leaders from Catalonia.
