Jack Wilshere, the Arsenal midfielder, spoke about this season and he admitted that he has been fulfilling his dream by coming back into Arsene Wenger’s squad and being given a chance to play regularly for his dream club.
The Englishman is very happy that he was able to find his way back to the starting eleven and he believes that he can finally realise all of his Arsenal dreams – to be said, he would love to extend his contract as it is about to expire at the end of the season. He has made 20 appearances in all competitions this season so far and he seems to be back for good…
The England international spoke about his dreams as he said that he always wanted to be the captain, according to Sky Sports: “I want to be Arsenal captain. I really enjoyed the other night, it was my first start as captain and walking the boys out was a special feeling for me and my family so that is something that I want to do. I never really stopped dreaming about that.”
He continued by adding that he had his doubts: “There was a time last year when Arsenal were playing against Bournemouth at the Vitality where I sat in the crowd watching and thinking ‘am I going to go back to Arsenal and play?’ but apart from that, I never really thought about not becoming the player everyone thought I would be or not fulfilling my potential.”
In the end, Jack Wilshere insisted that he is grateful for his time at Bournemouth: “I just wanted to prove my fitness at Bournemouth then come back here and try and get into the team. I played the long game and I worked hard. I’m not saying that’s over but I’m the team now and I need to work even harder maybe to keep my place and improve as a player as well.”
