Fernandinho has revealed his delight in being able to make his return for Manchester City in their 2-0 win over Stoke City on Monday night
Two goals from David Silva sealed a comfortable 26th league win for City and enabled the side to restore their 16 point lead at the top of the Premier League standings.
Fernandinho, who had been absent from the squad with a hamstring injury, was delighted to have returned and is now looking to seal the league title.
“I missed a lot being with the boys and of course I am so happy to be back and feel well,” said the Brazilian, according to the club website.
“We are happy to come here and win the game and play our style of football at what is of course a tough place to come and play good football.
“But we did it tonight and so we are happy for that. It is one more step to the title.
“You cannot deny that we’re close to winning the league but you have to keep working and keep focused and as we did since the first day, game by game step by step and working hard every day every week every game you’re going to get there.”
The 32 year-old also held special praise for his teammate David Silva, who scored both goals for City at the Britannia Stadium.
“I am happy for him because he’s a nice guy, a good guy and he helps us a lot. He’s always showing his qualities in the team and now he’s giving assists and scoring goals.” added Fernandinho.
City will next face Everton at Goodison Park on the 31st of March and Pep Guardiola’s side could potentially seal the league title at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester United afterwards.
