Casemiro is certain that his teammate Isco should be retained by Real Madrid “for many years”, after his man-of-the-match performance secured them a 2-1 win against Malaga
Following their tight victory against Juventus in the Champions League last week, Zinedine Zidane chose to rest the likes of Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, for the trip to the Estadio Roseleda for Sunday’s La Liga match.
The Frenchman started Isco for the fixture against his former club and the midfielder proved to be the difference between the sides with the 25 year-old opening the scoring in the 25th minute of the match, before assisting Casemiro for Real’s second of the game after the break to seal all three points.
Recently Isco had confessed his frustrations under Zidane this season and revealed that he could not understand how he could win the coach’s confidence at Real. Although Casemiro is confident that the Spain international will remain an important member of the side for many more years.
“He’s always been a really important Real Madrid player,” said Casemiro, according to SportsKeeda.
“He’s fantastic, and let’s hope he stays for many years.”
The Brazilian acknowledged that their opponents had provided them with a difficult challenge on Sunday with Malaga looking increasingly likely to be relegated this season with the club currently at the bottom of the league standings.
“It was a game we knew would be difficult because Malaga aren’t doing so well, but we knew it would be difficult,” said the 26 year-old.
“We controlled the game. We played well. Maybe we relaxed a bit at the end, and that’s why they scored.
“We still have to keep fighting in LaLiga. When you play for Real Madrid, that’s what you have to do.”
