Lionel Messi has praised Pep Guardiola for being the coach he is and believes that Sergio Aguero has benefitted “a lot” from him
The former Barcelona boss has guided City to a dominant Premier League title victory in only his second season in English football with the club breaking nine records in the process.
Messi, who won three La Liga title and two Champions League medals under Guardiola at Barcelona, believes that the Catalan had a key role in his own personal development as a player.
“Guardiola is one of the best coaches in the world,” he told Tyc Sports, via Sport.
“He makes you see things you don’t see on the pitch.”
Messi also feels that his Argentina teammate Aguero has benefitted from Guardiola’s unique coaching methods in his two years in charge at the Etihad Stadium.
“Agüero has grown a lot on a personal level with Pep,” added Messi.
“I see it when he plays. He’s another player now.”
Aguero scored 30 goals and provided seven assists in his 39 appearances in all competitions this term and is expected to recover in time for this summer’s World Cup after undergoing keyhole surgery in Barcelona.
