‘Aston Villa would probably be sold’ – claims former football club owner

Featured Gossip News

Last week was quite a turbulent period for Aston Villa as they almost put out the club for sale.

Today former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan shared his thoughts on the financial situation at Aston Villa as it tries to surmount their financial crisis.

Jordan speaking as a guest on talkSPORT believes there is a path forward for Villa, according to Birmingham Mail.

He stated: “The owners went missing for a while after the play-off finals.

“I think if there was an offer at the right level, Villa would probably be sold.

“I’m not entirely sure they have been run they way they should be run.

“There is a difficulty there in that there were contracts in there that were expensive. I know that there were £60k and £70k contracts in the Championship, which is unsustainable.

“But they do have assetts and key assets in Jack Grealish and possibly Jonathan Kodjia.

“I’m not suggesting that you sell your assets to consolidate.

“I’m suggesting they could sell two assets, capitalise on them at a decent price, to be able to make their squad more competitive and then go again next season.”

“It’s not now they have a problem, there’s a lot been made in headlines about tax bills, these are cash flow issues.

“They will be sorted out by the management.”
