Chelsea’s Willian has boldly predicted that Gabriel Jesus will one day emulate the great Brazilian striker Ronaldo
The Manchester City forward is already widely regarded as a great player and recently captained Brazil in their 2-0 win over Croatia in a friendly at Anfield on June 3, despite being at least two years and 10 months younger than any other player in the squad at 21 years old.
Jesus followed that up by opening the scoring for Brazil in their final warm-up game against Austria, which they would later win 3-0.
Now, Brazilian teammate Willian has tipped Jesus to go on and do great things in the future and even suggested that he may be able to reach the heights of the legendary Real Madrid forward Ronaldo.
“He is so young, and he can improve a lot,” said Willian, according to 101 Great Goals.
“But he is a fantastic player. Of course, he is going to learn more from the players around him, but I think he can reach that level.
“Ronaldo was phenomenal. Gabriel is just starting out. But he has a great future if he continues to improve.
“He can have a great future and maintain a great level. It depends on him.
“I like the way he plays. I like the way he does things off the pitch. He is a great guy. It depends on him.”
Brazil will face Switzerland in their Group E opener on Sunday.
