Cristiano Ronaldo’s relentless nature has left his Portugal teammate Bernando Silva feeling impressed considering all that he has achieved
The Real Madrid superstar comes into the World Cup on the back of having inspired his club to a fourth Champions League crown over the past five years and is now expected to carry over his outstanding form to the national side as Portugal look to win their first ever World Cup.
Ronaldo tasted success at international level for the first time two years ago when he captained Portugal to the European championship in France and since then he has added another two Ballon d’Or prizes to his massive collection of individual awards.
But, in spite of everything that he has won, Silva is impressed to see Ronaldo looking as hungry as ever for glory.
“Ambition is his strong point,” said the playmaker, according to SportsKeeda.
“He’s a player that has five Ballons d’Or and five Champions Leagues, who has spent 10 years scoring more than 40 goals a season.
“That he’s managed to maintain that level gives you an idea of what he represents as a player.
“He’s our reference point, an example for everyone and we hope that he’s in his best form because only if he plays well can Portugal hope to achieve big things.”
Portugal will begin their World Cup campaign against Spain on Friday and will later face Morocco and Iran in Group B.
